The other day I looked at my arm and immediately thought, “Hmm, I wonder which kid gave me that scratch?” Then I realized I hadn’t restrained a kid in weeks. That scratch came from my dog!
It made me laugh that my brain instantly went to the violent children. I mean, why not?
So, here’s your chance, moms and dads:
Write about your battle wounds in the Comment Section below.
My two most memorable injuries were a bite on my thumb that partially severed the nerve. OUCH. And, a seriously banged up knee after restraining a child nearly who was twice my size as she grabbed my keys and phone and ran to steal my car. I DON’T THINK SO. I won; safety was ensured, but my knee took the brunt of it. In the scheme of things, this is nothing.
Parents, you are veterans of an unseen war for your child’s healing.
I salute you, and I thank you from the depths of my heart for your courage, tenacity, and sacrifice. Some of you have been hospitalized because of your children. Some have had your health collapse after years in the trenches. Most have spent unfathomable amounts of money seeking help, given up careers, and made heart-breaking decisions. I salute you. Your fight for your child’s heart is the most important battlefront in the world.
Thank you.
